New Members

The Shoalhaven Lydian Singers are always happy to welcome new members.

We don’t have a formal audition and ask only that prospective members have a
pleasing singing voice. An ability to read music is helpful but not essential. We
suggest that interested prospective members come along and sing with us for
a few rehearsals  so that we can see how we fit with each other’s needs. Our
rehearsals are 6.30pm to 9.00pm every Wednesday at St Andrews Church
Hall, Nowra.

The choir is warm, friendly and supportive with a  repertoire which covers both
sacred and secular choral works such as madrigals, masses, show tunes and
modern jazz  (both ‘a Capella’ and with accompaniment).

Interested? Call  Lesley  on    02 4232 2726 or   0425 231 486.

We welcome the new members that have recently joined our group and
members who have returned.

Introducing our Musical Director: Lesley

Lesley took up the position of Musical Director of the Lydian Singers mid 2006.
Lesley was trained in oboe, piano and singing at the Sydne
y Conservatorium of
Music. Lesley's time is spent teaching in her private studio in Kiama, at
Nowra Anglican School and Chevalier College, Bowral. Her work also includes
directing choirs and accompanying other
musicians, choirs and students.

Lesley enjoys working as a freelance musician, playing oboe in numerous solo,
orchestral, chamber and theatrical performances. Lesley has played recorder,
crumhorn and oboe in Early Music Ensembles and currently is a member of the
Baroque Chamber Ensemble, Les Amis. Lesley has been Choral Director and
organist at various Sydney churches and Musical Director of community, school
and church choirs.

The theatre is another area in which Lesley has been involved. She has
performed both leading roles and in the chorus of musicals and plays. In recent
years she has become more involved in the directing side of theatre. Lesley
directed Nowra Anglican School's production of My Fair Lady in 2007.
This production won First Place in the Arcadian Theatre's award for School
Productions in the Illawarra, South Coast and Southern Highlands regions.
